Who are the “Madonnari”?
They are talented artists who transform part of pavements into masterpieces of paintings. Streets and sidewalks, asphalt and concrete are all painted by these artists who use erasable materials such as pieces of chalk.  These web pages are dedicated to those street painters who, each year, on 15th August (feast day of the Assumption of Mary) meet at the church
 square of Santa Maria delle Grazie (Grazie being a very small village 5km far from Mantua).

I do not know many of the authors of the following masterpieces, but I would like to thank every and each of them.

Who has not meet these artists who paint Madonnas and angels outside sanctuaries and churches and whose works are unfortunately ephemeral?
